A member of the Colchicacae plant species and the National flower of Zimbabwe.

A beautiful flower but highly toxic, particularly the seeds and roots. It is a climbing plant which grows to a maximum of 3m in height, its leaf tip tendrils attaching to either other plants or some other climbing trellis, etc.

It is adapted to summer rainfall and is dormant in the dry season. The bulbs, like many plants, multiply and the following season will see more than one plant growing in close proximity to the original.
