Shoals are a essential part of a fish’s existance. Enmassing as a shoal provides safety by letting them appear larger to predators. But how do they do it? How do they know to follow the lead fish’s movements so seemlessly almost like one? Fish can process information far faster than humans. They monitor the movement of the four of five fish around them and do exactly as they do. The only one determining what to do is the first fish … who can see most clearly if there is a predator or problem coming up.
